Kevin's View: Pumpkin Lager LakeFront Brewery
Beer: Pumpkin Lager
Brewery: Lakefront Brewery, Inc
Style: October Seasonal Lager
ABV: 6.0
Serving Type: Bottle

Notes: When you open a bottle of Lakefront’s Pumpkin Lager (Beer) there is a wonderful pumpkin spiced aroma promising a rich pumpkin flavor. Upon first pour you’re greeted with a light brown semi-transparent body and when properly poured very little head. Unfortunately from start to finish, the aroma is a significant overstatement of the upcoming flavor.
The flavor can be best described as inoffensive; a fairly forgettable first sip lacking any substantial flavor. The finish is a smooth but very light pumpkin flavor that lasts a little longer than desired. There is also a substantial lingering sweetness. I would recommend eating something with some salt to help balance out your taste buds, lest you end up with an annoying taste on your tounge from overexposure.
Wholly inoffensive, I recommend this to anyone worried about a bitter beer. It lacks almost any bitterness, or flavor for that matter, but belies the 6.0 ABV. Overall I'd say it's completely average, the only true benefit being it's newby friendliness.

I agree with you that the aroma is promising. This is generally how I feel when pouring any pumpkin ale. I love the idea of the spiciness, especially when the weather turns cooler. Alas, the Lakefront also left me wanting more. Perhaps as a hophead I should avoid any pumpkin ale, but I just keep holding out hope that one day I will find one I can enjoy.
